Mechanical Engineer 2 (Plant Systems Engineering)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Systems Engineering organization is focused on the Balance of Plant (BOP) systems of a power plant utilizing NuScale Power Modules (NPM). This position reports to the Manager, Plant Mechanical Systems, and works in close collaboration with multiple disciplines and cross-functional teams in development and implementation of the plant mechanical system design. This position also provides technical support and some oversight to NuScale’s design partners on development and implementation of plant mechanical system design in their scope to ensure proper integration with the NuScale NPMs and products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Supports the development and implementation of design requirements for the BOP mechanical systems, structures and components in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering judgement.
- Supports the preparation and review of engineering deliverables such as specifications, drawings, reports and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of systems, structures and components associated with the BOP mechanical systems in accordance with NuScale company procedures.
- Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems.
- Acquires and maintains general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND ABILITIES:
- Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree in Engineering discipline may be considered in lieu of full-time experience.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience in mechanical engineering or related industry experience is required. Preferred skills and/or experience include:
- Working knowledge and/or experience in the plant mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC systems, radioactive waste systems, condensate and feedwater, main steam, utilities, etc.) and components (e.g., piping, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbine, etc.).
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME BPVC, ASME Piping Codes, NFPA, etc.), and some understanding of nuclear regulations.
- Strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate.
- Good organization skills and ability to support complex projects with multiple work phases is required.
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:
The target pay range for this position is $87,107 - $105,129 annually. The full pay range is $78,096 - $122,149 annually.
